Virtudent Dental Kit

During my first co-op at Virtudent I was tasked with working with an external design firm to help redesign Virtudent’s portable dental kit.

Compound angle toolbox

One of the CEO’s main complaints about the kit is that it looked “like a toolbox”. The boxes that we used were large, bulky, and had weird cutouts on the sides that made them look unfinished. The boxes were also made with compound angles, so the sides got wider at the top and front. To fix this appearance, I modeled the side of the box using SolidWorks, then designed a set of shims to fit into the compound angles and hold up a clean side panel for the kit.

tool rack

The old tool rack was small, broke often, and didn’t house the tools properly. I designed a new tool rack in SolidWorks that would be much more durable due to it’s larger size and more secure position on the kit. It also was designed to hold each specific tool properly.
